The 19th Jiangsu International Forum for School Principals Held in Finland
On November 28, the Finnish session of the 19th Jiangsu International Forum for School Principals was held in Oulu. As one of the sub-sessions of the forum, it focused on the theme of "Strategies and Methods for Early Cultivation of Top Innovative Talent". Representatives from the Oulu education administration, Oulu University, Finnish school principals and teachers, as well as 28 Jiangsu school principals gathered to discuss key topics in education such as talent cultivation and evaluation methods. The conference also aimed to promote educational cooperation between the two regions.

Kristiina Kangas, Director of the International Division of the Oulu Education Bureau, presided over the opening ceremony. Dr. Raimo Salo from Oulu University’s Teacher Training School and Xu Fei, Principal of Nanjing Normal University Affiliated High School, delivered keynote speeches. Chen Xin, Secretary of Qingjiang High School, and Tao Bo, Vice Principal of Tianyi High School, participated in the principals' salon. Yu Xiaoyun, Principal of Lianyuan Street Primary School in Wuxi, and Zhao Tao, Secretary of Zhu Ziqing High School in Yangzhou, also delivered speeches during the conference. Pauliina Kanervo, Director of the Oulu Education Bureau, provided a detailed overview of Finland’s basic education system. She emphasized many shared educational philosophies between China and Finland, expressing hope that the conference would strengthen cooperation and exchanges, driving improvements in basic education. Under the title "The Critical 1%", Xu Fei joined in the attending representatives to explore thoughts and practices in cultivating top-notch innovative talents in the field of basic education. He pointed out that the development of innovative capabilities has been a topic of particular focus in Chinese education in recent years, and Finland has many commendable practices in this field. The attending principals actively discussed strategies and methods for cultivating top-notch innovative talents, and evaluation approaches in the basic education period.
During the forum, the Jiangsu principals' delegation conducted field visits to four local primary and secondary schools and three universities, gaining an in-depth understanding of Finland's practices in innovative talent cultivation, school management, classroom teaching, and other aspects.
