Jiangsu-Hong Kong-Macao Basic Education Cooperation Alliance
To implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and adhere to the directives of the central and provincial party committees and governments on Hong Kong and Macau affairs, the Jiangsu-Hong Kong-Macau Basic Education Cooperation Alliance was established in July 2023. This initiative was supported by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, the Hong Kong Education Bureau, and the Macau Education and Youth Development Bureau, and launched by the Jiangsu Education Center for Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Education Exchange, the Wuxi Bureau of Education, the Hong Kong Federation of Education Workers, and the Chinese Educators Association of Macau.
The Alliance upholds the principles of "deepening exchange, integrated development, and mutual enhancement", and operates under the guidelines of "public welfare, safety, branding, and effectiveness". It has implemented the "Hundred Schools, Thousand Students" program and established distinctive, solidly-founded, and effective brand exchange projects, integrating Jiangsu-Hong Kong-Macau educational exchanges into the national development agenda and the construction of a strong country in education. The Alliance focuses on creating a collaborative framework for basic education exchanges, involving multiple layers, platforms, and players. This includes sharing educational experiences and exploring new mechanisms for talent cultivation. The Alliance aims to use education as a bridge to strengthen emotional ties among compatriots, promoting regular inter-school exchanges and mutual learning between Jiangsu, Hong Kong, and Macau. It encourages the exchange of outstanding teachers for professional development and collaborative research. Additionally, the Alliance supports platforms for youth exchanges, sister school partnerships, and education in national conditions.
Since its establishment, the Alliance has established patriotic education study bases through collaborations between the Hong Kong Patriotic Education Centre and several key institutions in Nanjing, including the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders, the Nanjing Treaty Historical Exhibition Hall (Nanjing Jinghai Temple Memorial Hall), and the Nanjing Imperial Examination Museum of China. It has organized exchanges involving over a thousand principals, teachers, and students, and has formed nearly a hundred sister school or friendly school partnerships.
