Jiangsu International Exchange and Cooperation Conference for Primary and Secondary School Principals
The Jiangsu International Exchange and Cooperation Conference for Primary and Secondary School Principals (hereinafter referred to as the "Conference") is jointly hosted by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education and municipal governments within the province, with JESIE and local education bureaus serving as co-organizers. The Conference alternates annually between domestic and international venues. It invites representatives from foreign education administrative departments, educational organizations, and primary and secondary schools, as well as education experts, to address challenges in basic education through keynote speeches, expert seminars, and on-site visits. The Conference aims to foster mutual learning and exchange of educational concepts, promote the sharing and advancement of educational resources, and build a multilateral platform for international cooperation and exchange among schools, school clusters, and regions. By organizing Jiangsu primary and secondary school principals to attend overseas conferences, participate in visits and exchanges, and engage in academic seminars and job-shadowing, the initiative seeks to learn from global educational practices and management experiences, share Jiangsu's educational stories and philosophies, and enhance the international influence of Jiangsu education.
Since its inception in 2005, the Conference has been held for nineteen consecutive sessions. This event has significantly expanded Jiangsu's international educational reach, involving 11 cities within Jiangsu and extending to countries and regions such as the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, the United States, Finland, the Netherlands, Germany, and the Macau region. Each year, the Conference attracts over a hundred representatives, including primary and secondary school principals and education experts, from ten countries, as well as from Hong Kong and Macau regions. The Conference has broadened Jiangsu's international educational network, fostering approximately 2,000 sister school partnerships between Jiangsu schools and their counterparts abroad. Notable partnerships include the Suzhou Bureau of Education with the Peel District School Board in Canada and the Wuxi Bureau of Education with the Educational Department of Bycirklen, Denmark. Moreover, the Conference has expanded Jiangsu's international educational collaboration, directly or indirectly facilitating the mutual visits and exchanges of over 50,000 teachers and students. These interactions encompass teaching, research, curriculum development, and other collaborative projects, promoting deep exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and foreign schools. This initiative has strongly encouraged the integration and mutual learning of Eastern and Western educational philosophies.
