Changzhou

Changzhou, a prefecture-level city in Jiangsu Province, is known as “Dragon City”. It borders the Yangtze River in the north and Taihu Lake in the south. The population of permanent residents stands at 5.3662 million. With a total area of 4,372 km2, Changzhou's urban area reaches 2,838 km2. Changzhou currently administers the county-level city of Liyang, the districts of Jintan, Wujin, Xinbei, Tianning, Zhonglou and the Jiangsu Changzhou Economic Zone (CZEZ).

A city with outstanding figures. Changzhou, a Jiangnan historical and cultural city, boasts a rich history spanning over 3,200 years. There were 15 emperors, 19 Zhuangyuan (No.1 Imperial Scholars), and 2,960 Jinshi (a degree offered by the ancient Chinese Imperial Examination) that have come from Changzhou. “A Thousand Years of Reading Land” is a resounding reputation of this city, and it possesses the excellent educational resources all the time. There are 885 schools of all levels and types in the city, with 1.0137 million students enrolled. 

A city with well-developed transpor tation. Changzhou's road network is well-connected, with high-speed trains and expressways covering the entire area. The subway lines 1 and 2 are currently in operation. The water network connects the river and the sea, and the Beijing-hangzhou Grand Canal runs from east to west. The Yangtze River Changzhou port is designated as a national category-open port. The Changzhou International Airport offers direct flights to over 40 large and medium-sized cities in China, and it operates multiple international air routes. 

A city with advanced industries. Changzhou is an advanced manufacturing base full of modern atmosphere. In 2023, the city achieved a regional GDP of 1011.6 billion yuan and became one of the cities with GDP exceeding RMB one trillion in China. It is a globally influential “New Energy Capital”, and is also known as the “Livable City and the State of Happiness”.
