Huai'an

Huai'an is the hometown of the great man, Zhou Enlai, the first Premier of PRC. It is located in the Yangtze River Delta and the northern center of Jiangsu Province. It has jurisdiction over the three counties, namely Lianshui, Xuyi and Jinhu, the four districts, namely Qingjiangpu, Huai'an, Huaiyin and Hongze, as well as the Huai'an Economic and Technological Development Zone, Huai'an Industrial Park and Huai'an Ecological Cultural Tourism Zone. It has a total area of 10,030 square kilometers with the population of 5.51 million. It known as the national civilized city, national historical and cultural city, national health city, national garden city, national environmental protection model city, China's excellent tourist city, China's Huaiyang cuisine hometown, and City of Gastronomy.

Huai'an is a profound and charming historical ancient city. As early as in prehistoric times, people in Huai area started from scratch and created a splendid "Qingliangang Culture". Huai’an was designated as a county in Qin Dynasty, having a history of more than 2,200 years. In the heyday of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, together with Yangzhou, Suzhou and Hangzhou, it was known as the "four great cities" along the canal, enjoying the reputation of "the magnificent first state in the southeast". 

Huai'an is a famous cultural city with a beautiful and profound literary background. Historical celebrities such as Han Xin, a famous general, Wu Cheng'en, a novelist, and Guan Tianpei, a national hero, were brought up in Huai’an. Literary masterpieces 

such as Journey to the West and Travels of Lao Can were written here. It is the main birthplace of Huaiyang cuisine, one of the four traditional cuisines in China. 

Huai'an is an ecological city with dense rivers and lakes and beautiful scenery. The water area in the territory accounts for 1/4, which is known as the "city floating on the water". The Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal, the Huaihe River and other four rivers pass through the city, Hongze Lake, Baima Lake and other five lakes are inlaid, and the wetland area accounts for 1/5 of the land area.
