Taizhou

Taizhou city, located in the central part of East China's Jiangsu province and bordering the Yangtze River to the south, is one of the central cities in the Yangtze River Delta. With a population of 4.88 million, the city covers an area of 5,787 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over three county-level cities: Jingjiang, Taixing and Xinghua, and three districts: Hailing, Jiangyan, Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone (Gaogang). Taizhou honors such titles as National Civilized City, National Historical and Cultural City, National Environmental Protection Model City, National Garden City. It is rated as the “Happiest City in China” for four consecutive years, as was complimented by the famous Italian traveller Marco Polo, who visited the city over 700 years ago, “The city is not so big, but it’s filled with all kinds of earthly happiness.

Taizhou is a city of profound culture. With a recorded history of over 2,100 years, it is home to abundant masters, talents and celebrities, among whom are Shi Nai’an, the author of “Water Margin”, one of China's Four Great Classic Novels; Zheng Banqiao, the chief representative of the “Eight Eccentric Artists of Yangzhou” in the Qing Dynasty; and Mei Lanfang, the grand master of Peking Opera. It also nurtures 40 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering. 

Taizhou is a city of picturesque landscape. Located where the Yangtze River, Huaihe River and Huanghai Sea meet, it boasts a water area of 23%. With over 24,000 rivers and lakes flowing through the city, Taizhou is also known as Happy Water Paradise. During the stay, we can take a boat, floating down such ecological landscapes as Fengcheng River, Qinhu Lake Wetland and Canola Flower Islands, indulging ourselves in the picturesque and poetic charm of the splendid water city.
