Teacher Training Program(Overseas)

Program Overview

Teacher Training Program (Overseas) is developed by Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education (JPDE), sponsored by Jiangsu Provincial Department of Finance (JPDF) Special Funds and facilitated by Jiangsu Education Services for International Exchange (JESIE). It aims for participants to learn from global advanced education theories, ideas and experience, as well as to enhance teachers’ overall professional qualities and skills by sending groups to attend overseas training programs. Since 2003, more than 20,000 teachers and school administrators from various levels of schools in Jiangsu Province have been sent to participant in the program.

Program Application

Every November, municipal education bureaus in Jiangsu Province recommend candidates for selection to JPDE. In December, JPDE develops a training plan for the next year. Once JPDE has the confirmed participant list, JESIE carries out required follow-up procedures to send the teachers abroad and to organize the overseas training.

Overseas training in regions or countries other than these is implemented by local cooperative education organizations. Typically programs for subject teachers (non-English) last for 2-3 weeks while for English teachers last for 4-8 weeks, and principal training programs take 2 weeks.
